Shola Ameobi makes injury recovery
link June 2007

Trained Brain client Shola Ameobi is ecstatic to be back in play after a career threatening injury was rectified in Colorado. Ameobi had the operation at the end of last year to clear up the problem that had troubled him for two years, and marked his comeback by scoring for the reserves in their 5-1 victory against Middlesbrough's second string on Tuesday.

Shola is set to be back on form and will be looking for his comeback goal in the Premiership very soon! Shola talks about his rehabilitation: “You have to set yourself targets. When they told me I needed the operation, the first thing I said was 'can I play again this season? You have to give yourself that incentive to keep working hard. It's tough at times being on the sidelines and I think it helps you to keep your focus. You need to be focused if you're going to work hard and I've been delighted with how my rehab has gone."

Gee Atherton regains the jersey
link June 2007

It seems its Gee's year for 4X, having won round 1 of the UCI Nissan World Cup he had the leaders jersey to protect on Saturdays finals. Dan and Gee both made mistakes in qualifying and were therefore having low gate choice. This meant overtaking from the outside was the only way through, the pair are arguably the best when it comes to making moves, they proved this to the Swiss crowd in the early rounds with some amazing riding. He crossed the line in 2nd and advanced to his 2nd final of the year! With the overall wide open as the World Series moves to Mt St Anne, Canada all eyes will be on Gee to regain the jersey.
"It's always good to win a National round but when the competition is as quality as this weekend it makes it that little more sweeter!"
Gee Atherton, Trained Brain Client

He dominated the world cup scene and finishing with 1131 points with his nearest rival on 578 points. He also added a world championship Bronze and Silver this year to his collection of World and Olympic medals. His Bronze medal was one of the great achievements of the 2007 world championships as he had to battle against snow storms and blizzards to make it. The conditions changed so much in comparison to the early starters but Tobi showed incredibly mental strength to come through and win a medal in almost impossible conditions.
